Tattoo Tapes is a podcast I host with two of my mates from the studio — Tibor Varga and Alex Boca — recorded at North of Winter Studio in Manchester.
We started it because there’s a lot about tattooing that never really gets explained properly: how projects actually come together, what matters long-term, what people get wrong (sometimes without realising), and what makes the difference between a tattoo that’s “fine” and one that stays strong for years.
Most episodes are just us talking honestly from our own experience — and sometimes we’ll bring in a guest when it makes sense. No overthinking, no fake hype. Just real conversation.
Scroll down and pick an episode — start with whichever title grabs you.
This one is more relaxed and conversational.
We talk about life in the studio, funny stories, painful tattoos, weird requests, and the things you only really understand once you’ve spent enough time tattooing. Just honest studio talk.
This episode is based on real situations we see all the time.
We talk about things clients do — often without realising — that make sessions harder than they need to be. It’s practical advice to help both the client and the artist have a better experience.
We talk about pricing, budgets, and what actually affects the cost of a tattoo.
This isn’t about cutting corners — it’s about understanding where money goes, when it makes sense to wait, and how to approach a project realistically.
There are a lot of myths around tattooing, and we hear them every week.
In this episode, we break down some of the most common ones — pain, healing, fading, black and grey vs colour, and expectations people have before getting tattooed.
This one goes deeper.
We talk openly about mental health, pressure, burnout, and the parts of tattooing that don’t always get talked about. Liam joins us for an honest conversation based on real experience, not theory.
In this episode, we talk about how tattoo projects actually come together.
From the first idea to planning bigger pieces, managing time, and staying focused through long sessions. It’s about design thinking, structure, and what matters when you’re building something meant to last.
This is the first episode of Tattoo Tapes.
We talk about who we are, how we got into tattooing, and why we wanted to start this podcast in the first place. Nothing complicated — just setting the tone and giving some context before getting into deeper topics later on.
